What is an AI book editor?
Software that edits a book manuscript with AI. Built&Written's editor checks each section for spelling, grammar, punctuation, clarity and style, rewrites any passage you select, and checks the finished book against Amazon KDP's rules. You approve every change.
Can AI edit a whole book?
Section by section, yes. The text check reads one section at a time and marks problems in place, and Ask AI rewrites the passage you select. It does not restructure the book or give notes on your argument; for that you still want a human editor or a careful reread.
Is there a free AI book editor?
On the free plan you can import your manuscript, edit it, use Ask AI and run the text check on a limited number of sections. Downloading the print PDF and KDP package needs a paid plan: Author, $19/month, for a book you wrote yourself.
Will it change my voice?
Polish fixes grammar and flow without adding anything and aims to keep the length within about 5 percent. Tighten, Simplify and the others change more. You see every rewrite before you accept it.
Does it cut things I want to keep?
It can. Tighten shortened one section of our sample from 848 words to 307 and dropped a paragraph of examples along the way. Read each rewrite against the original before you accept it.
Does it check facts?
No. It checks language, not truth. Check every name, number, quote and date yourself before you publish.
What files can I import?
Word (.docx) imports most accurately. EPUB, PDF, Markdown, plain text and RTF work too, up to 300,000 words. Your chapters are split from your headings, and every word stays as you wrote it.
Can I publish the edited book on Amazon?
Yes. Under KDP's rules, your own writing refined with AI tools counts as AI-assisted and needs no disclosure. Text an AI wrote counts as AI-generated, which KDP asks you to disclose when you publish.
